New Zealand’s climate can be best described as being extremely variable, with the likelihood of experiences four seasons in one day very possible! In terms of best overall weather, the summer months of December to February take the crown. However, this is also the busiest time of year for both local and international travel, so prices tend to be higher.
March to May and September to November (Autumn and Spring) are tourist shoulder seasons in New Zealand, with temperatures during the day remaining warm with cooler weather during the nights.In the mountains, the winter months (June – August) are cold and offer great ski conditions for the avid winter sports junkie. However, once you get away from the mountains, the winter is relatively short and mild.
